St Michael - the Angel of Justice
The Michaelites are strict proponents of the secular power of the Church and spreading faith by the sword. Most of the higher dignitaries in the western Church are members of this sect, especially Dominican monks and Inquisitors. At their worst Michaelite Brothers degenerate to heretic-hunting vigilantes or inspectors looking after the internal "purity" of the Church. The Teutonic Knights loosely follow the Michaelite ideals.
St Raphael - the Angel of Mercy
The gentle Raphaelites take the teaching of Christ to heart and spread the cause of healing, peace, and forgiveness. Franciscan monks, most Greek Orthodox, and peaceful men of the cloth everywhere follow this ideology. The Raphaelites have very little political ambition, the Eastern Church merely follows the policies of the Byzantine Emperor. The Knights Hospitaller are an exception, as the Raphaelite-derived organization is both militarily and politically active.
St Gabriel - the Angel of Light
The Gabrielites cannot stand evil and dedicate themselves to fighting it. All hunters of demons, undead, or dark cults usually follow this ideology. The Brothers of Light eschew large organizations, preferring to operate alone or in small groups as parts of the existing power structures. The Knights Templar follow the Gabrielite ethos, but otherwise the sect has little political power.
Christian Magical Tradition
Magic is exclusively the property of God. His faithful servants may pray for miracles, which God or his Angels may then fulfill, depending on the worth of the request and the person making it. In practice, however, Christian magic is so often performed for morally ambiguous purposes that one cannot help but doubt that God actually does weigh every prayer before fulfillment.
