Agrarian culture. Peasants live in small independent villages surrounded by fields, there is sporadic communication with the nearest neighboring villages. The villages are very self-sufficient, but rich farmers may visit town markets now and then to sell their produce and buy luxury goods. Even if there may be a sheriff or similar representative of government in the village, he works alone and might only supervise tax collection one per year. Most peasants follow the established religions, although old traditions and superstition may affect their behavior. Few villages have their own churches or mosques, instead people visit places of worship on holy days even from quite far away.

Simple craftsmen (blacksmiths, weavers, potters), and commoners from small towns and castles are counted in this culture as well. Lower aristocracy owning mostly farmland are also more agrarian than feudal.

There are peasants everywhere farming is possible. The great majority of the population in Europe belongs to this group.

Power and prestige is determined by skill, experience, or wealth. Hard labor and its fruits are valued.
