Command Undead (Su)
The character has the power to affect undead creatures by channeling the power of his faith through his focus. He must present his focus to do this, which is a standard action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity (however, it is considered an attack). The character may attempt to command undead a number of times per day equal to 3 + his Charisma modifier.
The character makes a Charisma check to see how powerful undead can be affected. If he has 5 or more ranks in Knowledge (religion), he gets a +2 bonus on the check.
| Check | Most Powerful Undead Affected |
| Result | (Maximum Hit Dice) |
| 0 or lower | Spiritual level -4 |
| 1—3 | Spiritual level -3 |
| 4—6 | Spiritual level -2 |
| 7—9 | Spiritual level -1 |
| 10—12 | Spiritual level |
| 13—15 | Spiritual level +1 |
| 16—18 | Spiritual level +2 |
| 19—21 | Spiritual level +3 |
| 22 or higher | Spiritual level +4 |
If the check is high enough to affect some of the undead, the character rolls 2d6 + Spiritual level + Charisma modifier. This becomes the total number of Hit Dice that can be affected. Undead who are more than 60 feet away cannot be affected regardless of the result, as well as undead with total cover. The closest undead are affected first.
Effects of command
There are several effects that the character can choose the command to have, although his alignment or philosophy may set moral restrictions on the use of some of them.
- Turn: Turned undead flee from the character by the best and fastest means available to them. They flee for 10 rounds. If they cannot flee, they cower (giving any attack rolls against them a +2 bonus). If the character approaches within 10 feet of them, however, they overcome being turned and act normally. The character can attack them with ranged attacks (from at least 10 feet away), and others can attack them in any fashion, without breaking the turning effect. If the character has twice as many levels (or more) as the undead have Hit Dice, he destroys any that you would normally turn.
- Rebuke: A rebuked undead creature cowers as if in awe (attack rolls against the creature get a +2 bonus). The effect lasts 10 rounds.
- Control: The undead creature is under the mental control of the character. He must take a standard action to give orders. At any one time, the character may control a number of undead whose total Hit Dice do not exceed his Spiritual level. He may voluntarily relinquish control on any undead creatures in order to control new ones.
- Dispel: The character may attempt to dispel a turning effect made by someone else. He makes a turning check as if attempting to rebuke the undead. If the turning check result is equal to or greater than the turning check result that the other character scored, the undead are no longer turned. The character rolls turning damage of 2d6 + Spiritual level + Charisma modifier to see how many Hit Dice worth of undead he can affect in this way (as if he were rebuking them).
- Bolster: The character may bolster undead creatures against turning in advance. He makes a turning check as if attempting to rebuke the undead, but the Hit Dice result becomes the undead creatures' effective Hit Dice as far as turning is concerned (provided the result is higher than the creatures' actual Hit Dice). The bolstering lasts 10 rounds. An undead creature with Spiritual levels can bolster himself in this manner.
